Macau D1, where East meets West

D1, as usual, the Vuns are very good in waking up late in the morning. So, we started our tour around 10.30am. Since its kinda late, we scrapped off the A-Ma Temple visit together with most of the sites along the way, decided to jump to Largo do Senado instead. It's brekkie time!! Everyone's starving! Hey, that's what holidays are meant to be, yeah? Free and easy! From our hotel, we walked to the square, which took us probably 20 minutes walk.

Recommended by the LP book, we went and tried the Wantan noodles place at the infamous Wong Chi Kei restaurant. The wantan was delicious... cant find such yummillicious shrimp taste back in KK... boo hoo!!!

Wong Chi Kei, opened since 1946.

Kungkung, having hard time deciding what to eat.. too many things a-must try

Wondering what is in lil C's mind..

Posing around Senado Square was challenging, there were too many scaffoldings and renovation going on (getting ready for CNY), and the crowd were countless... cant take decent pix around the area. Noticed the Square's distinctive tile pattern, also known as the portuguese pavement?

Pix taken in front of St. Dominic's church.. it has been there since 1587.. The Bell Tower has been converted to a little Museum of Sacred Art, exhibiting a collection of 300 artifacts. (Sorry love birds, I hafta pinjam this pix... didnt take a nice shot of it.. :p)

After scrapping off more sites in our lists, we decided to go directly to the infamous Ruins of St. Paul, the only landmark that I know of in Macau (before this trip)... A fair bit of walk, through the crowded alley and the aroma of savoury dried meat temptations...

Posing in front of the Ruins, lil C was no where to be found!

Next destination was to the Mount Fortress. I was amazed that the 3 kids and myself were able to climb through the hundreds of steps. PIL gave up halfway..

Mont Forte
The first few of the steps that we hadda endure..

Photobucket
Pant! Pant!! Half way panting, wishing that the climb better be worth it!!!

Photobucket
Beautiful entrance, didnt damper our hope!

Photobucket
The two boys were ahead of me... They were excited!

Photobucket
Boys will be boys... One of lil C's fav things! He managed to go round the fort and touched every single cannon displayed... Seriously!! (I read that there were 32 canons displayed at the Fort)

Came down from the fort and visited the Cathedral, but too tired to take more photos.

Did I mention earlier that we wanted to visit the 25 heritage sites of Macau? hehehehe.. With the kids, 2 elderly and a prego woman, we could only go for 6!

By the end of the afternoon, everyone was exhausted!!!

That night, we went and visited the Venetian... before having a Macanese dinner with SIL's Macau friend... (Ok, me gotta pick lil C up from school now...Will update soonest!)
